FAQs

  • What if there is a fault or issue with my installation?

    All installations have a 12 month warranty, in the event of a fault or issue please report it to us via the contact options, (some terms and conditions do apply).

  • Can the Engineer install my Vonage VoIP service?

    Yes, we do charge £ 55.00 for this service.

  • Can I connect my existing telephone extensions to Vonage?

    In most cases the answer is yes, this is specialist job which does require some specific technical knowledge relating to how the existing telephone cabling and extension sockets are connected, we charge £ 45.00 per hour for this service.

  • I have a monitored intruder alarm system via BT Redcare or similar product?

    Boxcom is an SSAIB Approved Security Contractor, we are able to advise on intruder alarm remote connections and if necessary work with your local Security company to ensure the installation is successful.

  • I have a SKY HD box that connects to my phone line, will this work with Vonage VoIP service?

    Boxcom has been working hard to resolve this issue, currently moving the phone connection from your landline to Vonage is not supported, however SKY now offer a far better option. The Ethernet LAN connection on the rear of the Sky+ box allows a wide range of on-demand, box office and catch up services. The Gigaclear fibre broadband service is ideal for this as downloads are now so much faster. Boxcom can perform this work for you if required.

Guide to Installation Costs

Boxcom offers a standard install charge of £ 95.00 (including VAT), for larger installations we provide a menu of additional charges

What’s included in a standard install:

Boxcom
  • up to 15 metres buried in lawn, flowerbed or clipped to a wall.
  • up to 2 metres in hard ground, examples include through paving slab grout line or slot in tarmac.
  • one hole though a house wall
  • up to 3 metres of fibre cable clipped internally.
  • carry out the required making good inside and out
  • connect your fibre service, test the installation and configure your connection.

additional costs

  • per additional metre of fibre cable install buried in lawn, flowerbed or clipped to a wall - £2.50 per metre.
  • per additional metre of fibre cable installed through paving slab grout line or slot in tarmac - £ 6.50 per metre.
  • Additional hole through a house wall - £9.00 per hole.
  • 20mm flexible duct (this may be offered if the trench is shallow or where vehicles cross) - £2.50 per metre.
  • Taking fibre optic through an external wall - £20.00 per wall.
  • Taking fibre optic under an external wall - £40.00 per wall.

Some examples

Customer A has a connection box outside their property, the cable run into the property is 35 metres of buried cable, and 5 metres across a paved areas, the router is located within 3 metres of the external wall entry hole:

  • The £95.00 charge for the first 15 metres applies = £95.00
  • 20 metres of additional cable buried in the lawn at £2.50/metre = £50.00
  • 2 metres of cable crossing the paved areas is included in the standard charge, the additional 3 metres at £6.50 p/metre = £19.50

Therefore the cost works out at: £164.50 including tax.

Customer B has a connection box outside their property, the cable run into the property is 80 metres of buried cable, and 3 metres across a paved areas, the router is located within 3 metres of the external wall entry hole:

  • The £95.00 charge for the first 15 metres applies = £95.00
  • 65 metres of additional cable buried in the lawn at £2.50/metre = £162.50
  • 3 metres of cable crossing the paved areas is included in the standard charge.

Therefore the cost works out at: £257.50 including tax.

Customer C has a connection box outside their property, the cable run into the property is 15 metres of buried cable, and 3 metres across a paved areas, the router is located within 3 metres of the external wall entry hole, the buried cable is install to a shallow depth due to tree routes and the route crosses a drive, therefore the Customer is offered 20mm flexible ducting:

  • The £95.00 charge for the first 15 metres applies = £95.00
  • 15 metres of 20mm flexible duct at £2.50 p/metre = £37.50
  • 3 metres of cable crossing the paved areas is included in the standard charge.

Therefore the cost works out at: £132.50 including tax.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Installation is carried out by Boxcom Synergy Ltd (Boxcom hereafter) and forms an agreement between the Customer and Boxcom.
  2. It is the responsibility of the Customer to inform Boxcom of any underground obstructions, infrastructure or equipment that may be subject to damage or cause damage to our Engineers or equipment.
  3. A planned installation time of three hours is based as a guide, where the installation is non-standard or more complex Boxcom reserves the right to extend the time period.
  4. Hard surface re-instatement may be carried out at an alternative time.
  5. All installation work is warrantied for a period of 12 months; this does not include third party damage, inappropriate use or damage caused by events outside of Boxcom's control and is separate from any warranty Customer Agreement with Gigaclear.
  6. Should the installation be more complicated than initially assumed and/or is not included in the standard installation criteria Boxcom reserves the right not to carry out the installation as per this offer, free surveys are available and Boxcom will endeavor to connect all Gigaclear Customers to the service.
  7. In the event of an appointment being delayed/cancelled by events beyond our control Boxcom will endeavor to inform the Customer at the earliest opportunity and make alternative arrangements. Cutting of lawn and hard surface can be affected by adverse weather conditions, Boxcom shall not be responsible for any delays or cancellations caused by adverse weather, associated issues or events beyond our control.
  8. In the event of no access to a property or cancellation of the appointed time Boxcom shall offer an alternative appointment time.
  9. Boxcom wants all Gigaclear's Customers to be happy with the service they receive from Boxcom, in the event of any issue or matter of complaint the issue shall in the first instance be referred to Boxcom and if not resolved to the Customers satisfaction passed onto Gigaclear.
  10. Re-instatement of hard service shall be carried out to the best of the operatives ability, please note there may be some difference in finish and colour, Boxcom will endeavor to keep this to a minimum.
  11. Where lawn is cut there may be evidence of this work, Boxcom shall introduce grass seed, however whilst every effort is taken it is not possible to bury a cable without some form of mark or disruption.
  12. Where required the fibre cable can be installed in a black 20mm flexible duct, this is recommended where it is not possible to dig to the required depth, such as where tree roots or underground obstructions are present, duct is charged at £ 2.50 per meter including VAT at 20%.
  13. Boxcom reserves the right to carry out the installation over multiple visits, our installation model is based on one visit however there may be rare occasions where we need to come back, additionally we may sometimes ask if we can carry out a certain activity prior to the installation date in order to speed up the work, we will of course speak to you first and check this is ok.
  14. Engineers are not permitted to lift paving slabs or drill through, or under certain types of walls or structures, these items will be discussed during the pre-install meeting prior to the Engineers starting the work, if it is agreed to lift slabs or similar items Boxcom is not responsible for the re-instatement or repair. This also applies to other paving products including block paving.
  15. Where Customers have existing underground ducts, these can only be utilised if they are the property of the Customer. Boxcom does not accept any responsibility for any work carried out within these ducts, including disruption to existing services. Any services that are installed in other utility ducts that are subsequently required to be removed shall be the responsibility of the Customer.
  16. By signing the Service Delivery Form, the Customer agrees to take full responsibility for gaining and authorising permissions, wayleaves, rights of access etc. Where work is carried out across common land or land (property) belonging to a third party Boxcom shall not be held responsible for any resulting access, wayleave or right of access disputes and not responsible for any costs (including legal) or remedial actions that may arise.
  17. Boxcom will not attend Customer properties without a Customer representative over the age of 18 being present.
  18. Boxcom reserves the right to alter these terms and conditions as required; any changes shall be published as required.
  19. All prices stated for residential Customers include VAT at 20%, Business Customer quotations are subject to VAT at 20%.
